Full MLB Playoff Schedule 2025: Dates, Times & TV Channels

The World Series matchup is set.

After 2,430 total regular season games and 40 postseason games, the Dodgers and Blue Jays are the last two teams standing. The Dodgers defeated the Brewers in the championship series with a four-game sweep, while the Blue Jays outlasted the Mariners in Game 7 of the championship series. Both teams will now look to add another World Series title to their collections.

Before the World Series gets underway on Friday, here is a look at the postseason schedule.

When do the 2025 MLB playoffs start?

The 2025 MLB playoffs began on Sept. 30, just two days after the regular season ended on Sept. 28. The World Series will begin on Oct. 24, and could run to Nov. 1 if the series takes seven games.

How are the MLB playoffs structured?

A total of 12 teams make the MLB playoffs each year, with six teams each from the National League and American League. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds from both leagues get byes through the wild-card round. In the wild-card round, the No. 4 seed faces the No. 5 seed while the No. 3 seed takes on the No. 6 seed.

The wild card is a best-of-three format and the division series is best-of-five games. Both the Championship Series and World Series are best-of-seven game series. In each round, the higher seed hosts at least the first two games of the series.

Man Utd in contact and lead race to sign attacking talent likened to Neymar

Manchester United are keen to strengthen their attacking ranks under Ruben Amorim and could now be set to raid South America for a bristling talent dubbed the next Neymar Jr.

Man Utd prepare to address squad issues in mid-season window

The Red Devils find themselves in the middle of the Premier League pack heading into a hectic run of fixtures between now and the New Year, which will offer Amorim some insight regarding where he needs to add steel to help his side continue their recent improvement.

Ultimately, setbacks are part of football, and Monday’s defeat against Everton will sting for the Manchester United support, especially given the difficulty their side had in breaking down the low block David Moyes deployed at Old Trafford.

Delivering an honest assessment of what needs to change going forward, Matthijs De Ligt urged his teammates to bounce back against Crystal Palace on Sunday and show improved urgency in South London.

He stated: “Overall, just a really bad performance. The next game, obviously, is really important now. We have to bounce back from this performance. We had some good performances over the last couple of weeks, and now we had a bad one.

“Now, it’s for us to come back, to stay together and to make clear what has to be better. We lacked maybe the urgency to score the goals, to create the chances – and then you know against a team like Everton, who drop back and are really strong in the air, it’s going to be quite difficult. That basically sums up the night.”

Man Utd to "complete" move and sign "the next Casemiro" in coming days

The Red Devils are now ready to open their transfer chequebook.

BySean Markus Clifford Nov 28, 2025

Wolverhampton Wanderers pair Andre and Joao Gomes have been identified by Manchester United as January targets. Casemiro’s potential contract expiry has led Amorim down the path of searching for a midfielder, and it is clear he is making inroads on that front.

Conversely, the Red Devils are now said to be leading the race for a talent who could become one of South America’s brightest stars in the next few years.

Man Utd leading race to sign Santos star Robinho Jr

According to reports in Spain, Man Utd are leading the race to sign Santos prodigy Robinho Jr, and they have made contact with his entourage over bringing the 17-year-old winger to Old Trafford.

Compared to Neymar by peers in his homeland, he is a recognisable name as the son of former Manchester City and Real Madrid star Robinho, and he may be allowed to leave his current club due to their financial situation.

Santos are unlikely to let the winger go for a modest fee, albeit Manchester United have been tracking his progress for months and see a unique opportunity to develop his talent in England.

This is something that the Brazilian giants are willing to seriously evaluate as they look to bring funds into the club, especially given they are at risk of relegation, potentially creating a scenario where everyone is a winner.

Arsenal less than 150 points behind Man Utd in all-time Premier League table

Whilst long throws, set pieces and teams centred around physicality are back in fashion, a lot has changed in the Premier League since 1992. It’s now the richest league in the world, featuring some of the best players and managers in world football. It is the ultimate destination. But, how much has the table changed in that time?

FootballBlog has released a full ranking of the Premier League table from its very first season in 1992 up until the beginning of the recent November international break. The table includes deductions issued by the Premier League and has tallied the wins, draws and losses by teams over the last 33 years. A total of 51 teams have featured in the top flight over the last three decades, but only 20 can make the all-time standings.

Premier League table by transfer spend per point 2025/26

The top flight would look very different.

ByCharlie Smith Nov 14, 2025 20 West Bromwich Albion: 490 points

They may be languishing outside the top six in the Championship these days, but there was a time when an away trip to face West Bromwich Albion was a day of frustration for any top side. They sit 20th thanks to the fact that they haven’t returned to the top tier since 2021, but it’s hard to forget just how impressive they were at their best – finishing as high as eighth in the 2012/13 season. And who could forget the form of Romelu Lukaku during his time at the Hawthorns?

19 Bolton Wanderers: 575 points

Ever seen a player so good they named him twice? That was Jay-Jay Okocha. The former Bolton Wanderers star formed the most unlikely partnership with Sam Allardyce during the club’s impressive 11-year stay in the Premier League. Their best finish saw them reach as high as sixth in the 2004/05 season and there still exists the famous video of Allardyce attempting his best dance moves with his star midfielder in 2003.

18 Sunderland: 637 points

Sunderland have been back to where they belong this season and are even on course for their highest-ever Premier League finish. The Black Cats have fought their way back from the depths of League One and may yet get the chance to move up the all-time Premier League table by the time that May arrives. A club built on the memories of stunning Jermain Defoe volleys and Kevin Phillips’ goalscoring heroics could now be about to form their most historic campaign yet.

17 Middlesbrough: 661 points

This time next year, we could be welcoming Middlesbrough back to the Premier League for the first time since 2017. It was then that they welcomed the likes of Alvaro Negredo, only to struggle in front of goal when it wasn’t the forward finding the back of the net. It was the third time that they suffered relegation from the Premier League in their history and everyone around Riverside will be desperate to earn redemption almost a decade later.

16 Crystal Palace: 728 points

Whilst there is a running joke that Crystal Palace always end the season sat in 13th, the all-time table has them 16th and their form over the last year suggests that they could be destined for better things. From mid-table mediocrity, the Eagles have soared to become FA Cup winners, Community Shield winners and a side competing in European football. This is without doubt one of, if not the best Crystal Palace side in the club’s history.

15 Fulham: 804 points

Like Palace, Fulham have often been accused of ending their seasons sat in mid-table, but they won’t mind that. The Cottagers have become an established Premier League side once again under Marco Silva and have caused plenty of upsets on their way. Alas, it’s their time under Roy Hodgson that stands out the most, with the veteran manager taking the West London side all the way to the Europa League final in 2010. 15 years later, no one’s forgotten the stunning comeback victory against Juventus at Craven Cottage.

14 Leeds United: 831 points

Like Sunderland, Leeds United are back where they belong in the Premier League. The Whites are full of top flight history and still have their place on the all-time table after the success that they had in the early Premier League years. Their most successful campaign remains a third-place finish under David O’Leary in 2000 to bring Champions League football to Elland Road, as Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka and Alan Smith all starred.

13 Leicester City: 846 points

It’s still absurd, isn’t it? Leicester City: Premier League champions. It remains the most impressive achievement in English football history, as the Foxes took the fight to the big six and somehow came out on top in the 2015/16 campaign. We’re unlikely to see a repeat anytime soon, if ever. Even after they suffered relegation last season, it’s tough to think about the Premier League without picturing Claudio Ranieri’s title winners.

12 Blackburn Rovers: 970 points

It’s been over a decade since Blackburn Rovers were relegated from the Premier League and they remain one of the biggest sides yet to earn promotion back to the top flight. From winning the title in the 1994/95 campaign, Blackburn were relegated in the 1998/99 season and then once more in 2012. History, however, will tell the story of how Sir Kenny Dalglish, with Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton, took his side to glory in 95.

11 Southampton: 1,100 points

For a while, Southampton couldn’t get much wrong in the Premier League. They thrived under Mauricio Pochettino then hired Ronald Koeman to pick up where he left off. The Saints also quickly became Liverpool’s favourite club, with Sadio Mane, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Virgil van Dijk all heading to Anfield for impressive fees. Although some will be quick to remember last season’s disaster, Southampton were once one of the best ball-playing teams outside the top six.

Blue Jays Hire Fired Reds Manager David Bell As Front Office Executive

Former Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell reportedly has a new home in baseball.

Sportsnet's Shi Davidi and Ben Nicholson-Smith reported Friday that the Toronto Blue Jays hired Bell as vice president of baseball operations and assistant general manager.

Despite being signed to a contract extension in 2023, the 52-year-old Bell was fired by the Reds in late September after a disappointing season in which Cincinnati finished 77–85 and missed the playoffs for a fourth straight year.

Over six seasons as the Reds' manager, Bell registered a 409–456 record (.473 winning percentage) and received votes for the NL Manager of the Year award twice.

Bell played 12 seasons in the big leagues from 1995 to 2006 for six different teams. He began his coaching career as the manager of the Reds' Double-A affiliate in 2008 and worked his way up to Triple-A in '11. After stops with the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals coaching staffs, Bell served as the San Francisco Giants' president of player development from 2017 to '18.

Bell now will work alongside general manager Ross Atkins in the Blue Jays' front office as Toronto attempts to rebound from its 74–88 campaign in 2024.

Lamine Yamal seemingly confirms plans to buy €14m Barcelona mansion once owned by pop sensation Shakira & Gerard Pique

Lamine Yamal seemingly confirmed his plans to buy the €14 million (£12.5m) Barcelona mansion once owned by pop sensation Shakira & Gerard Pique through a social media post. In a now-viral photodump shared with his 14 million followers, the forward was pictured standing with his back to the camera, facing the spectacular modern property and its sparkling swimming pool.

  • Yamal buys a luxury real estate

Built in 2012, the estate originally consisted of three separate buildings spread across 3,800 square feet, featuring indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a private tennis court, and even a recording studio once used by Shakira herself.  When Shakira and Pique announced their split in 2022, the mansion was quickly put up for sale at €14 million (£12.5m). But despite global interest, it lingered on the market for over two years. One of the smaller residences was eventually sold separately, trimming the total price tag to €11 million (£9.5m), which is still enough to make most jaws drop. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo had earlier claimed that Yamal has now swooped in to take the keys, reportedly planning to move in with his cousin and a close friend. The young star is also believed to be preparing major renovations and will be spending a significant sum to remodel the home to fit his own tastes and lifestyle.

Getting inside Yamal’s lavish new mansion

It has been reported that there are six bedrooms and five bathrooms. The main house opens into a vast living space framed by glass walls that overlook the Mediterranean. The outdoor area boasts well-maintained lawns, a private poolside terrace, and a sleek lounge zone perfect for entertaining guests. It has been suggested that Yamal could transform Shakira’s old recording studio into a gaming room or personal cinema. The move into one of Catalonia’s most iconic properties comes just months after Yamal signed a blockbuster six-year contract with Barcelona in May. The deal reportedly nets him around €30 million (£26m) per season, which is an astonishing figure for a player still in his teens. That puts him among the highest-paid players in world football, potentially earning up to €180 million (£157m) by the time his contract runs its course. And the earnings don’t stop there. Thanks to his rising global profile and a string of lucrative endorsement deals, Forbes estimates Yamal’s total annual income could reach $43 million (£32m), which is enough to buy him a seat among the sport’s financial elite alongside Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Jude Bellingham.

  • Injury worries cloud the celebration

Yet while the Instagram post painted a picture of glamour, things haven’t been entirely rosy for Yamal on the pitch. The youngster has been battling a groin injury, reportedly a form of pubalgia, which is a chronic and notoriously difficult-to-treat condition that has plagued several top players, including Lionel Messi. Reports from Spain claim Barca are worried the problem could become long-term if not handled carefully.

“Pubalgia is complicated," admitted Messi during an interview with Buenos Aires radio station back in 2019. “I suffer from it for a while now, I do little training and I can not play all the games. It is not a problem that can be solved overnight. I feel better now, but I still have not recovered and I still need treatment.”

Barcelona’s battle to stay in the title race

Despite the injury setback, Yamal remains central to Hansi Flick’s plans as Barcelona aim to chase down Real Madrid in the La Liga title race. He is expected to start as the German manager informed, "he’s fine. Some days he still feels a bit of pain, but he’s progressing well.” However, Pedri will be missing out as Flick also provided an update on the injury of the midfielder. "After the match in Madrid, he only had a minor discomfort, just fatigue, but when we checked it, we found the injury. We have to accept it. Hopefully, he’ll be back soon," he said. The Blaugranas currently sit five points behind their eternal rivals and will be desperate to keep the pressure on when they host Elche on Sunday.

Everton's "serious" talent is in danger of becoming the new Cenk Tosun

Everton’s 2–1 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday night was a dramatic statement.

Jack Grealish struck in the 93rd minute to seal the win, ending Palace’s club-record 19-match unbeaten run.

Yet for large periods of the contest, Everton were second-best, struggling to assert themselves in attack.

David Moyes, who had urged Grealish to score more before the fixture, clearly had stern words at half-time as his side improved their tempo and urgency in the second half.

The first-half struggles were compounded by a goal from Daniel Munoz in the 37th minute, giving Palace the lead as they sought to make it three Premier League wins in a row.

It was Palace’s first defeat since a 5–0 loss to Newcastle in April, and there were signs they might have felt the after-effects of travelling to Poland for a midweek Europa League tie against Dynamo Kyiv.

Despite the early sluggishness, Everton’s comeback ensured they now sit eighth in the table with three wins and eleven points.

However, Moyes’ team must quickly recover as they travel to Manchester City after the international break, while Palace host Bournemouth at Selhurst Park.

The early attacking ineffectiveness will remind supporters of one player who previously led the line for the Toffees – a striker once burdened with expectations that proved difficult to meet.

Struggles up top will remind fans of Cenk Tosun

Everton fans will recall Cenk Tosun, who joined the club in 2018 for £27m with the expectation of replacing the goal threat lost when Romelu Lukaku departed for Manchester United.

He was Sam Allardyce’s first signing at Goodison Park and made his debut in a 4–0 loss away at Tottenham Hotspur. Tosun scored 11 goals in 61 appearances for Everton, also registering six assists.

His first goal came in a 2–1 loss to Burnley, and despite criticism from fans, he received support from his manager throughout his tenure.

He helped Everton finish eighth in the 2017/18 season, though under Marco Silva he lost his starting spot to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Eventually, he returned to Besiktas on loan before signing permanently in 2022, and now, at 34, plays for Fenerbahçe.

Tosun’s Everton career serves as a cautionary tale. Talented but inconsistent, he struggled to live up to expectations.

The team’s first-half inability to create chances against Palace is reminiscent of the frustrations fans experienced watching Tosun – a forward with potential, yet unable to consistently influence matches.

Everton man in danger of becoming Tosun 2.0

That comparison brings attention to Thierno Barry, Everton’s new £27.6m summer signing from Villarreal.

The French U21 international is physically imposing at 6 foot 5in, having been described as a “serious No.9 prospect” by analyst Ben Mattinson.

Last season, he scored 11 goals and provided four assists, while dominating in the air in La Liga.

He ranks in the 87th percentile for aerial duels (3.84 per 90), winning nearly two-thirds of his contests in the penalty area.

Barry is a striker who can dominate the box and stretch defensive lines, ranking in the 74th percentile for progressive carries (1.70 per 90) and 62nd percentile for successful take-ons (0.77 per 90).

However, his adaptation to the Premier League remains a work in progress.

Moyes has acknowledged that Barry will need time to adjust to the league’s intensity and pace, particularly as Everton increasingly deploy a possession-based system tailored to his technical strengths.

Against Crystal Palace, Barry struggled to make an impact. Substituted at half-time for Beto, his stats underline a difficult introduction: 19 touches, eight passes (four accurate), zero shots, two dribbles (zero successful), and ten times losing possession, as per Sofascore.

Despite these figures, there are signs of potential.

His profile could allow him to become the reliable target man Everton hope for, provided he adapts to the rhythm of the Premier League.

Fans will hope Barry does not follow the path of Tosun, a player who arrived with high expectations but rarely produced consistently.

With time, support, and integration into Moyes’ system, Barry has the tools to grow into the player Everton envisioned.

His performance against Palace, while subdued, could serve as a stepping stone – a first lesson in navigating the physical and tactical demands of top-flight football.

Everton’s comeback illustrates the squad’s resilience, but their first-half attacking struggles and Barry’s adaptation period highlight ongoing challenges.

Moyes will need to balance patience with urgency, helping his striker find form before upcoming fixtures against elite sides, ensuring that Everton’s new investment delivers the return expected from a £27.6m forward.

Shoaib Malik quits as PCB mentor citing other 'commitments'

His departure comes at a time of increasing speculation about the fate of other four mentors who were appointed along with Malik in 2024

Shoaib Malik has quit his position as one of five mentors appointed by the PCB for domestic competitions, citing other commitments. Malik, who said he submitted his resignation to the board two weeks ago, said he would fulfill his remaining contractual obligations, but would not be a mentor for the next season. The other mentors are Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Waqar Younis.”This was not an easy choice, but after reflecting on my commitments, I realised that juggling multiple responsibilities would prevent me from giving my best – both to Pakistan cricket and to my other professional and personal priorities,” Malik said. “To ensure fairness to all, I believe this is the right time to transition. Working with some of Pakistan’s most talented cricketers has been an immensely rewarding experience, one I will always cherish.”Malik’s departure as mentor comes at a time of increasing speculation about the fate of all of the mentors. The day Malik made his resignation public, media reports suggested the PCB had decided to let go of all five mentors as they look to scale down what was an unprecedently busy domestic season last year. It is not certain that the Champions Cup, promoted as the jewel in the crown of the domestic season last year, which saw players pulled away from Test preparation ahead of the England series, will take place at all.Related

'Prevailing security condition' forces PCB to postpone three domestic tournaments

However, a spokesperson at the PCB said an official decision had not been communicated by chairman Mohsin Naqvi to the board. ESPNcricinfo spoke to three of the four other mentors, each of whom said they had not been informed about any changes to their role. All five mentors were appointed on three-year contracts running until 2027.The appointment of the mentors in August last year was controversial, particularly when reports of their financial remuneration came to light. Each of the five are believed to be on three-year contracts, earning in the range of PKR 5 million (approx. USD 18,000) per month. Those salaries have raised eyebrows because they are higher than what is paid to all but the most elite Pakistani cricketers – the category A players Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan, in the central contracts pool.Besides, the vague nature of their job descriptions left the question of what they would actually do unclear. Initially appointed as mentors for each of the sides in the Champions Cup, the roles are separate from coaching. Each side had a separate coaching set-up – and the mentors did not require coaching qualifications. In a statement to ESPNcricinfo last year, the PCB had said that it “as a responsible organisation, never discusses in public salaries of its staffers and consultants, which remain a matter between the employer and the employee”.The PCB has not yet announced a replacement for Malik, or whether they intend to replace him.
