Let’s paint the scene, shall we?

You’ve made a start with your Fantasy Football team, the first few game weeks haven’t proven too great, have they? Your team is lacking in points, your mates at work have all had a great start, 100+ points in the bag, lovely stuff – but not you. No, you’ve had a torrid start, red cards for Andreas Christensen, John Egan, and Kieran Gibbs, an Erik Pieters own goal, a Mo Salah stalemate – thing’s just aren’t looking too positive at the moment, are they?

Well, just your luck that FPL gives you some great little tricks up your sleeves for the season, one of those being the wildcard.

The use of the wildcard allows the user to make an unlimited amount of transfers for a game week, without incurring any point penalties or deductions for doing so – one week of unlimited transfers to completely revamp your squad, just to give you that little points boost you so desperately need to reduce the gap between you and your mates in the mini-league. The use of a wildcard can be done twice per season – during the first half of the season between GW1 and 29th December, and once again for the remainder of the season.

Now you’re probably thinking, when should I use it then? A good question, as there are a few loopholes in the Premier League calendar that allows you to get the most out of your use of a wildcard. You may feel you need to use your wildcard due to injuries across your squad, which is a great idea, as you can make quick transfers for a game week at no extra cost, in time for your injured squad to become fit again. The best time to use it, however, is during a double game week.

A double game week is where two or more teams face two separate fixtures in a single game week, giving you double the number of potential points on your wildcarded players. These double game weeks often occur due to clashes with games in other competitions, and it can prove wise to hold onto your wildcard until one may occur.

It’s simple really, and it is a great little tool to give you that needed points boost for your team – especially during the aforementioned double game weeks. It is also key to remember that these transfers don’t have to be made at once, and can be done throughout the week before the next game week deadline, as long as you’re sticking to the budget, and make sure you use the wildcard right at the start of each game week, to give yourself enough time to implement any needed changes.

So there you have it, the wildcard – a simple yet effective tool that can be very useful in FPL, so use it wisely, and good luck for the rest of the season!

وأكمل سولشاير: “نحن على أرضنا، نلعب ضد ليفربول، ذهبنا إلى هنا على مدار العامين ونصف العام الماضيين ولدينا نهج مماثل في الضغط العالي لكن اليوم سجلوا فرصهم وأعتقد أننا كمانشستر يونايتد يجب أن نحاول دائمًا فرض سلطتنا على اللعبة”.

Glasgow Rangers ace Bongani Zungu has arrived at the Ibrox outfit with the burden of expectations on his shoulders. Steven Gerrard recently described him as a “dominant” midfielder. And the Rangers boss told the club’s website “Bongani fits the profile of player that adds further strength and depth to our midfield.”

He added “we wanted a dominant midfielder with the right profile who can enhance the team and compliment other players we have.”

Gerrard is hardly short of midfield options at the moment, as Scott Arfield, Steven Davis, Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara have all impressed in recent weeks. But he must unleash Zungu when his side travel to Parkhead to face Celtic on Saturday.

Whilst some may argue that it is far too early for him to make his first-team debut in the Old Firm derby, do not allow yourself to be fooled so easily. In fact, far from it, as Amiens official John Williams insisted “his skill level is very high. He is a hard worker and technically good. He can do everything.”

Similarly, former Rangers man Dean Furman has backed Zungu to succeed in Scotland. The South African believes his countryman can cope with the rigorous demands of life as a professional footballer at the Ibrox outfit. He told The Daily Record “I don’t know how Bongani is fitness-wise but it would be really amazing if he was ready and thrown into the Old Firm game.”

Per SofaScore, the 27-year-old made 21 appearances in Ligue 1 for Amiens last season, whilst he averaged 1.3 tackles, at least 1 clearance and 1 big chance created per game, which implies that he is a wrecking ball in all parts of the pitch.

And a look at his heatmaps last term reveals that he is both confident on the ball and comfortable under pressure, which is exactly the type of character who can adapt to a game that is notorious for its physical demands. He is used to dealing with public scrutiny after playing for Mamelodi Sundowns, who are one of the biggest teams in South Africa, so he should be able to handle a baptism of fire.

Gerrard can catch Celtic by surprise if Zungu is given the opportunity to prove himself as the attacking box-to-box midfielder could exploit gaps at the back.

He has already admitted he can’t wait to get started with the Gers. And the South Africa international will want to make a good impression if and when the chance arises.

ولكن يرى كيليني أن هناك تأثير إيجابي وسلبي على يوفنتوس بعد رحيل رونالدو عن الفريق، وهذا ما صرح به خلال حواره مع شبكة “DAZN” الإيطالية، وقال: “كان كريستيانو يرغب في الانتقال إلى مكان جديد من أجل تحقيق أهداف أخرى وفريق سيلعب من أجله”.

وأضاف: “عندما يكون رونالدو في فريق يلعب من أجله، يعد هذا حافزًا له من أجل أن يكون حاسمًا أمام المرمى، وهذا ما أثبته خلال فترته مع يوفنتوس والآن مع مانشستر يونايتد”.

وتابع: “هنا في يوفنتوس، بدأنا خطة تجديد الفريق والاعتماد على الشباب، لو بقي رونالدو لكان إضافة كبيرة، لكن من الطبيعي أن يفكر في الحاضر أكثر من المستقبل”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “رونالدو غادر يوم 28 أغسطس، كان من الأفضل لنا لو رحل قبل ذلك، لقد كان هناك ثمنًا قد دفعه يوفنتوس مقابل ذلك بسبب ضيق الوقت، وهو ما كان صادمًا للبعض هنا”.

وأتم: “إذا غادر في وقت سابق عن ذلك لم يكن ليتكفل يوفنتوس النقاط الضائعة في بداية الموسم، ولكان لدينا الوقت للاستعداد بشكل أفضل”.

Assim, com a base mantida para a disputa da Libertadores da América de 2016, a diretoria palmeirense deve contratar apenas peças pontuais para reforçar o elenco. O provável primeiro reforço a ser anunciado é o goleiro Vágner, do Avaí, que chega para ocupar a vaga de reserva de Fernando Prass, já que Aranha, em fim de contrato, não deve permanecer.

Today marks five years to the day that Liverpool Football Club took its first step into an entirely new era. Jurgen Klopp was unveiled as the Reds’ new manager on October 8, 2015 in a bid to patch up the wounds left by Brendan Rodgers.

After their ‘near miss’ season in 2014, it looked like Liverpool had missed their chance of becoming Premier League champions for the first time. Steven Gerrard left the club a year later after gradually becoming more and more of a fringe player under Rodgers. With the last remaining club icon gone and their chances of Champions League football dashed, the spirit on Merseyside was dampened.

Until out of the ashes rose not a phoenix, but a liverbird. The Klopp era had a buzz around it from the start and it was only a matter of time before he showed to the world why the club had chosen ‘The Normal One’ to take them to dizzy new heights.

Champions of England, Europe and the World

In just five years, Klopp has built this Liverpool side into champions. The Reds have finally felt the glory of winning the Premier League and have also banked their sixth European title for good measure. Also as the reigning Club World Cup champions, the belief in the team has arguably never been higher.

“What a five years it’s been,” Neil Mellor told Football FanCast exclusively. “What Jurgen has brought to Liverpool is a togetherness, a connection. As an ex-player I feel connected to the current team, the supporters of the club feel connected to the first team and I think that’s unique.

“I look around the Premier League and I think many clubs would love to have that sort of connection.”

Indeed, Klopp has a clear and obvious bond with his players and it’s one he loves to show. In a recent interview with BBC Sport, Jordan Henderson relived the moments of celebration the team had with their manager following their historic Premier League win.

“Obviously when we win, he’s on the dance-floor and he’s partying but you should see him when we lose,” the Reds skipper revealed. “There’s been big games, big finals we’ve lost and the way he handles that is incredible really. And I’ve learned a lot from him, from that – how he reacted is so different to what everybody else would think.”

Klopp’s belief in Liverpool’s youth

Mellor waxed lyrical over Klopp’s recent decisions to put his trust in the club’s Academy graduates. Trent Alexander-Arnold is a model example for someone walking in Gerrard’s footsteps after grafting his way up through the ranks of the club. Fellow teenagers Curtis Jones, Neco Williams and Harvey Elliott are also on their way to securing their regular spot in Klopp’s first team.

“That [connection to the Academy] has always been strained at times,” Mellor said. “Even at my time it was difficult for young players to have the chance to go down to Melwood and show the first team what they’re all about. Jurgen is now bringing the first team and the Academy together, which I think is great.

“He’s not going out and spending £50-60million all the time, he’s giving young players a chance.  There’s a great feeling at Liverpool.”

After being given his chance to shine at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold is now the most valuable defender in the world and third highest valued young player – behind only Jadon Sancho and Kylian Mbappe, according to Transfermarkt. Soon enough, more young Liverpool players will be dominating the Premier League and beyond, guided by the genuine belief shown by Klopp.

A new wave of stars could be next to get their hands on some silverware as the German continues his mission to make Liverpool the best in the world.

Se na segunda-feira a diretoria do Vasco confirmou a renovação do técnico Jorginho e do auxiliar-técnico Zinho, nesta terça o clube já começa a traçar a montagem do elenco para a disputa da Série B no ano que vem. Logo após a definição pela permanência, a dupla pediu ao gerente de futebol Paulo Angioni a lista dos jogadores em fim de contrato. Eles ficaram de analisar todos os nomes e, nesta terça, vão se reunir com a diretoria para informar quais eles pretendem contar e também aqueles que serão liberados para outros clubes.

No total, são 18 jogadores em fim de contrato (veja toda a lista abaixo), mas a imensa maioria não deve permanecer no ano que vem. Destes, apenas o volante Serginho é titular, e também é um dos cotados para continuar. Além dele, Rafael Silva, que apesar de não ter terminado o ano como titular foi importante em vários momentos, já tem um acordo encaminhado com o Vera-Cruz, do México, e não continua. Os outros nomes serão estudados, mas poucos ficam. O zagueiro Aislan é outro que pode ter o vínculo renovado.

O Cruz-Maltino também terá sete jogadores que retornam de empréstimo e ainda possuem contrato. São os casos de Erick Daltro, Victor Bolt, William Barbio, Yago e Erick Luís, e também de Sandro Silva e Guilherme Costa, que voltaram já de empréstimo antes mesmo do término desta temporada. Poucos devem ser aproveitados. O volante Aranda vive situação semelhante, mas também diferente. Apesar de ter contrato, deve rescindir de forma amigável.

Nesta terça, o Vasco também deve confirmar a realização da pré-temporada no CT João Havelange, em Pinheiral. Está marcada uma reunião pela manhã com o proprietário do CT, Guto Nader, para finalizar o acerto, com datas e valores. A tendência é que a delegação fique hospedada de 9 ou 11 até 23 de janeiro.
