دعا نجم ليفربول محمد صلاح رئيس وزراء بريطانيا بوريس جونسون، للتدخل من أجل إيقاف الاعتداء الغاشم على الشعب الفلسطيني من قِبل الكيان الصهيوني.

ويعيش شعب فلسطين حالة من الاشتباكات العنيفة في الأيام الماضية، بسبب ما يدور في حي الشيخ جراح في القدس، حيث يسعى الاحتلال إلى تهجير أهالي تلك المنطقة.

وكتب محمد صلاح عبر حسابه الشخصي بموقع “تويتر”: “إنني أدعو جميع قادة العالم بما في ذلك رئيس وزراء هذا البلد (بريطانيا)، الذي كان موطنًا لي طيلة السنوات الأربع الماضية إلى بذل كل ما في وسعهم للتأكد من توقف العنف وقتل الأبرياء على الفور”.

وأضاف المصري: “لقد طفح الكيل”.

After salvaging a late point against Southampton on Saturday afternoon, it seems that Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira was in need of some downtime.

But this wasn’t simply a case of going for a stroll in north London or relaxing in his likely extravagant residency as he went much further afield in pursuit of mental clarity.

In a bid to rapidly put a nightmare team performance behind him, the diminutive midfielder jet off to Italy to see Sampdoria in action.

His former club hosted Udinese yesterday and managed to steal a 2-1 victory courtesy of goals from Gaston Ramirez and Manolo Gabbiadini.

Clearly, the Saints have ended their feeder club relationship with Liverpool in favour of the Serie A outfit and their new partners are reaping the rewards.

And after making the journey to Italy, Torreira posted a message on Instagram expressing his enthusiasm for the club.

No fear, Arsenal fans, the message posted in Italian roughly translates to “It’s always a pleasure to see you again” and not “please sign me up, old friend”.

And the admiration was reciprocated by his former club in a gushing reply to the original post.

There is clearly no love lost between the 23-year-old and the club who provided him with the platform from which to elevate his career.

And with rumours beginning to suggest AC Milan and Napoli are both interested in the South American midfielder, it may not be too long before Torreira steps foot on Italian soil again.

Curtis Jones scored a hattrick, Luis Longstaff grabbed a brace, and Jake Cain and Elijah Dixon-Bonner both netted one apiece.

Part of Jones’ trio of strikes was a penalty. And he had plenty to say to Harvey Elliott afterwards. In one clip, he can be seen telling the former Fulham youngster to “shut up”. It appears that Elliott had been making it clear he wanted to take the spot-kick as well.

Liverpool are running away with the Premier League title so far this campaign.

After 14 games, the Reds lead the way by a huge eight points from Leicester City. Perhaps more importantly, though, the current back-to-back champions Manchester City are a further three behind, and have already lost three matches this term. For context, they lost just four out of 38 last season.

Whilst the Citizens have not been at their best, they have been hit by a number of injuries. Aymeric Laporte, Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane have all been missing at various points of the campaign for Pep Guardiola.

Paul Merson clearly thinks this is the main reason why City are unable to keep up with the Reds. In his column for Sky Sports, he said: “I would like to see Liverpool with Van Dijk injured for three months like Laporte and then take out a Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah for a while. But Liverpool have been quite fortunate as a lot of their players play a lot of football and they play the same team.”

Clearly, this did not go down well with the fans, and the former Arsenal man may have damaged his reputation amongst them.

Of course, City are not the only side to have suffered with injuries. Jurgen Klopp’s team have been without Alisson and Joel Matip for part of the season, for example, whilst Fabinho recently picked up an issue as well.

The fans were quick to point this out during their reaction to the quotes.

It seems Merson has a short memory. Even with those lay-offs, the Reds have won 13 of their first 14 matches. City should be able to cope without them.

A number fans have made references to their title rival’s spending power, and have insinuated that they can’t really complain considering the amount of money they have spent and can part with in the future.

Indeed, City have put together the most-expensively assembled squad in the world, and they have spent over £1 billion since 2008. Surely they should have enough cover for injuries with that kind of outlay?

Either way, it remains to be seen whether Guardiola and Co can recover from apparently being hard-done by.

Meanwhile, Stephen Warnock thinks Liverpool could miss out on one world star because of his Ballon d’Or aspirations.

Allan Saint-Maximin has been a revelation for Newcastle since entering the Premier League.

He may only have scored once in the top-flight, but his displays have been thoroughly exciting and entertaining. The 22-year-old is one of the top dribblers in the league, second only to Wilfried Zaha.

Against Manchester City, he achieved seven of them before going onto score his first Magpies strike against Sheffield United.

However, it now looks as though Steve Bruce’s men could be without the winger for a period of time after journalist Lee Ryder confirmed he left the ground on Sunday on crutches.

Newcastle went onto beat Southampton 2-1 but the joy of winning was quickly overshadowed by Saint-Maximin’s injury.

One of the Toon Army’s most consistent performers in 2019/20, fans were understandably gutted to see him out injured. While players like one-goal Joelinton have failed to perform, he’s been a constant threat.

One fan went as far as claiming it was the worst news possible after seeing the tweet from Ryder.

Other supporters still remained frustrated by the news but donned their tactical hats and started to think of ways Newcastle could address the problem if the Frenchman was out for a period of time.

Saint-Maximin has been playing on the left-wing for the majority of the campaign so the most natural replacement would surely be former Chelsea man Christian Atsu. Should he miss a more extended period of time, Matt Ritchie could replace him once he returns from his own injury.

A further method would be to move Joelinton into a wide role.

Further reaction surrounded the fact that fans didn’t think the forward was fit enough anyway, recalling some of their thoughts after the win over Sheffield United last week.

One supporter was shocked that he even played while another was seemingly in disbelief that Bruce didn’t withdraw him at some point throughout the match.

According to The Star, Sheffield Wednesday have initiated talks with young defender Osaze Urhoghide over extending his current contract as it nears its expiry. 

The 19-year-old was brought into the Wednesday set-up last summer after impressing during a trial spell with the club (via SWFC). Urhoghide linked up with the reserve team and has since made waves – the Owls have the option to extend his contract until 2021 but the club reportedly have much bigger plans for the teenager.

If Wednesday are able to tie down Urhoghide on a new four-year or five-year contract, that could be the first step to fixing some major issues currently surrounding the first team. Garry Monk has expressed his desire to lower the average age of his current squad and, as highlighted by Dom Howson, the Owls have a whopping 17 players nearing the end of their contracts or coming to the end of a loan deal at Hillsborough.

Urhoghide has played four times for the first team this season and has contributed to two clean sheets (via Transfermarkt). The Englishman occupies a position which is currently well-stacked at Wednesday, which could give him the time to develop without rushing into anything. As he progresses, he will provide healthy competition for fellow right-backs Moses Odubajo and Liam Palmer.

The average age of Monk’s current senior squad is 27.1 and he has 12 players who are aged 29 or over (via Transfermarkt). If there is indeed an upheaval in the summer, players like Urhoghide could prove pivotal as the Owls prepare to recruit for the 2020/21 season.
