مصطفى محمد سجّل هدفين في مرمى أرضروم، ليقود جالطة سراي للفوز بثنائية نظيفة، مساء السبت، على ملعب “تورك تليكوم أرينا”، ضمن لقاءات الجولة السابعة والعشرين من السوبر ليج (طالع تقرير المباراة).

وقال مدرب بشكتاش السابق، أوزين في تصريحات عبر شبكة “beIN” الرياضية في نسختها التركية: “في دورينا المُهاجمين الأقوياء هامين جدًا”.

وأضاف مدرب قاسم باشا السابق: “مصطفى محمد يلعب كرة القدم بإرادته، إنه مُتحمس للغاية، لاغب يحاول اللعب بإخلاص وأداء عالٍ”.

بينما قال كريم أوغلو نجم جالطة سراي السابق: “في هدفه الثاني، يمكننا أنّ نرى مدى متابعته للمباراة وتركيزه”.

Celtic finally put things right in Europe on Thursday night as they managed to secure a 2-0 victory over AIK in the play-off round of the competition. But, that wasn’t the only good news fans received as Tom Rogic has returned to full training (as reported in the Evening Times). 

Rogic has been sidelined with both an ankle ligament injury and is recovering from knee surgery. The latter being as a result of an injury sustained during the Asian Cup in January. Unfortunately, Rogic wasn’t fit in time to return to action against AIK Stockholm in the Europa League play-off round.

In another season where Rangers will look to push Celtic close going off their form at the start of the season and a packed schedule with Europa League duties, Rogic could be crucial.

Here’s why…

Rogic can provide for Griffiths and Edouard

With Leigh Griffiths back and firing on all cylinders and Odsonne Edouard continuing his form from last season, perhaps Tom Rogic’s return could improve their stats even more. He produced nine assists in the 2017-18 season and added another six in the last campaign, despite only appearing in 35 games last season. Ryan Christie is the current incumbent of the attacking midfield role and he is performing it manfully, albeit in a different style to Rogic.

Lennon has no reason to drop Christie and shouldn’t think about it at all, but it’s a luxury for the Celtic boss to have both of them at his disposal. If Rogic manages to contribute as much as he has over the past couple of seasons (35 goals and 29 assists for the Hoops) then he will be a very useful player for Lennon, with Christie and Rogic possibly alternating or playing them together.

Celtic’s midfield will be more mobile

If Lennon brings Rogic back into the team he has a problem, who drops out? Well, Scott Brown should be the man.

You don’t lose the creativity of playing Christie deeper either. Christie, Olivier Ntcham and Callum McGregor have more than enough in their legs, with Chris Sutton stating (as per Daily Record) that Christie makes up for the traits he lacks in Rogic’s case with his work rate and speed.

Rogic has aspects to his game no one at the club has. His ability to manipulate the ball and take it on the half-turn to get the team going at opposition, which is something that Sutton has also alluded to (as per Daily Record), really gets them running at the opposition.

Lennon will have a difficult decision when Rogic returns to the matchday squad, but he will surely be delighted to have an experienced player back in the side (167 appearances for Celtic).

According to Goal, Wolves are keeping tabs on Wigan Athletic’s young forward Joe Gelhardt, but they face stiff competition from a whole host of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.

What’s the word?

The striker is viewed as one of the Championship’s most promising talents and this week he will feature at international level after he was called up to England’s U18 squad.

Gelhardt has been at Wigan for seven years but has made just two senior Championship appearances for the club, most recently last weekend coming on for the final 27 minutes as they drew 0-0 with Barnsley.

The 17-year-old drew high praise from his Latics boss Paul Cook, who said he was ‘so comfortable at this level’ during a pre-season fixture against Premier League outfit Burnley.

Youth project

Wolves’ commitment to improving their youth ranks has been clear to see over the past two years or so.

Evidence of that was seen as recently as this summer when signed Bruno Jordao, Flavio Cristovao, and Renat Dadashov.

The club have also got Rob Edwards, the Under-23 manager, playing the same brand of football that Nuno Santo tries to deploy so that any step up a player makes will be all the more comfortable.

The potential move for Gelhardt only continues the Fosun trend of strengthening from the bottom up over at Molineux.

Their dedication to this philosophy has only been emphasised by head of recruitment John Marshall being specifically told to find the best young players across Europe.

Jeff Shi has also made comments in the past about how Wolves want to strengthen the academy. Signing Gelhardt, therefore, would help this significantly.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Ruben Vinagre continue to make waves in the first-team this season – both starting a Premier League game each, which only takes further measures in proving that a move for a highly-rated teenager like the one Wigan have in their hands would be the correct thing to do.

Speaking to Football Insider, Danny Mills has revealed he worries for Newcastle this season due to their lack of goals.

What did he say?

The Magpies currently find themselves in 14th in the Premier League table after picking up just one win from their opening four games of the season.

Now, Mills has suggested the Tyneside club’s lack of legitimate goal-scoring options could lead them to have a “tough” campaign.

He said: “No, no. I worry for them, I worry for Newcastle. I look around and I know they had the good win but where are these performances going to come from week in, week out. Where are the goals going to come from? I think it’s going to be another long, hard, tough season for them.”

Cohesion

After a rough start to the campaign against Arsenal and Norwich, Steve Bruce’s side pulled off a shock victory away at Tottenham. The performance and result spoke of what Newcastle could potentially achieve this season if they fully applied themselves and stuck to a game-plan.

Club-record signing Joelinton has shown glimpses of what he has to offer with his strong hold-up play and sheer physical presence. Last season however, the Brazilian bagged himself 11 goals at Hoffenheim – not the numbers of a prolific striker.

But his nine assists across all competitions shows he also has a selfless side to his game, and that will only benefit the likes of Miguel Almiron and Christian Atsu.

Both Joelinton and Almiron only arrived this calendar year and it is difficult to expect them to be firing on all cylinders so soon into their Premier League careers. But, if they can form a partnership together, they can no doubt allay some of the concerns Mills has.

Ahead of 2019/20 there was a dilemma at left-back for Leeds.

Stuart Dallas ended last term brilliantly with two goals in the playoffs against Derby as he stepped in for Barry Douglas astutely. The Scot became an option again heading into the new season but Ezgjan Alioski and Leif Davis were also in the frame.

Douglas looked in good form against Wigan, putting in a performance which earned him an average rating of above 7 via WhoScored. But aside from that he hasn’t managed to achieve anything above 6.55.

With that in mind, it would make sense if Marcelo Bielsa stuck with Alioski, even now Douglas is back and fully fit.

On the chalkboard

After that match against the Latics, it looked as though Douglas was on his way to providing a solution to Leeds’ pre-season dilemma.

He looked comfortable and was able to provide two key passes, as well as winning two aerial duels.

But since the left-back’s time on the sidelines, Alioski has come in and been a revelation, thus making it incredibly difficult to drop him.

Douglas is the more senior of the two at 30 and that perhaps suggests why he started over the North Macedonian at the beginning of the term.

He spent a period out and came back against Stoke in the Carabao Cup. He then missed out the weekend after possibly over a lack of match fitness.

But he’s now had the international break to fully recover and get himself in gear, thus making him a viable option against Barnsley.

However, Alioski was in fine form for the Whites before the international break, contributing to two clean sheets in three games. He won five aerial battles in the process, per WhoScored, so if there is a decision to be made he is the right choice.

Against Swansea last time out the 27-year-old made a massive six tackles, as well as having three shots. Versus Brentford, he created the most goal scoring opportunities of any Leeds man with three key passes.

Those outings provided evidence that he can cope in defensive and attacking scenarios. The latter will likely come in handy against a Barnsley side who have conceded nine and scored just four. Douglas is yet to score this season so that presents another reason as to why Alioski should play against a more defensive opposition.

The 5 foot 8 Leeds man can be used as a traditional full-back or even as a wing-back and after producing the goods for his country last week, claiming an assist, he should still be trusted. That’s despite his main competition for that role in the side now being fully available once again.

Aston Villa are finding things tough in their Premier League return. They precariously occupy 17th in the table just two points off rock-bottom Watford.

When those at the club first took a look at the fixture release earlier in the summer, it is unlikely many would have been pleased by the fact that they play European finalists Tottenham Hotspur and an Arsenal side boasted by a new club-record signing within the first six matches of the season.

It is also unlikely that has changed since, but after the Gunners’ recent showing, it should offer up some encouragement.

Just so long as Villa boss Dean Smith makes an adjustment to how he sets out his team this weekend.

On the Chalkboard

Unai Emery’s men faced a mammoth 31 shots on goal against Watford, who as aforementioned sit bottom of the table, and became the butt of one unfortunate statistic in doing so.

No team in Europe has faced more shots than the North Londoners this season with 96.

Villa’s Wesley is only averaging 1.8 shots per game himself with 2 being the most he’s recorded in any one game. Therefore, it doesn’t seem like he’s the answer unless someone can provide him with more chances.

Instead, Smith should look to tweak his midfield by removing the need for a defensive midfielder and pushing skipper Jack Grealish into the number ten role.

The 24-year-old recorded 76 key passes last season at a squad-high average of 2.3 per game so moving him further up the field will allow him to rediscover that element of his game.

Smith can also bring Douglas Luiz back into the fray to sit next to John McGinn as he can add a slight defensive element.

He played in the role in their only win of the season alongside the Scot so that the loss of Marvelous Nakamba isn’t felt so hard, thus enabling this system to work.

Having their midfielders further up the pitch would allow more pressure on the Arsenal backline too and as seen first-hand with Watford that can force them into mistakes.

Grealish could press from the front in a number ten role, alongside the striker, which could allow them to make life difficult for a backline including Sokratis and Bernd Leno who have made one error leading to a goal this season.
